Hi everyone, my name is Ryan Kelson and I am going to be the worship leader this year!
Worship has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started leading worship when I was 11 years old, and I have continued to lead at various churches since then. I have been blessed by churches investing in me through mentorship and providing examples of strong Christian leadership. These experiences have played a large role in building my character and passion for worship. In addition to spiritual and leadership growth, I saw how music can inspire people to draw closer to God.
Music in general is important to me and I enjoy playing most genres. However, music in celebration of the One who gave me life is what I live for and has been the most consistent music I play because it fills me up spiritually. My life verse is Matthew 5:16 which says “let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven”. Worship for me is living out my life verse by glorifying God through the gifts He has given me. Other genres may also be fun to play or may have interesting theory to explore, but nothing gives me more joy than to sing praises and point others to Christ through song.
I am hoping that God will expand the reach of the Holy Spirit through our time of worship this Fall and I am so excited for the potential growth we will have as the spirit moves in our college community!
